聲音不可見,卻有喚醒時間的力量。在這座幾乎沒有異鄉的全球化時代,為了認出一個城市的臉孔,你可以循著聲響,穿過層層覆蓋的文化記憶與歷史,考古時間不斷沖刷的生活空間剖面,在聲線交織的光景中,重現被時代淹沒的異托邦。


當我們的生活空間逐漸全球化時,屬於每個城市的文化記憶,也隨著歷史演進被層層覆蓋,一如台灣各縣市的火車站,承載著每個城市的文化符號與全球化的歷程。作曲家林芳宜的新作《異托邦素描本Ⅱ》,延續以聲音傾聽與思索生活所在之處的概念,整首作品由樂器、影像和預置錄音構成,樂器在層層堆疊的音符中,逐漸揭露隱藏的古老旋律,從西方的、現代化的聲響回歸鄉野庶民的方言歌謠;重疊投放的影像與隱身其後的聲景,以具象的姿態暗喻不可視的時間流逝與歷史演進;而扭曲的、去口語化的人聲,則以抽象的形式象徵人類無所不在,與締造歷史的角色。在這個樂器、影像與人聲建構的音樂場域中,試圖透過平行、重疊、覆蓋與揭示的藝術技法,呈現一個平行與重疊的時間、覆蓋與揭露的空間,並以此回應全球化下的社會與生活。


The overwhelming power of modernization and globalization are affecting the place we live in. A city’s cultural memories exist in layers, with many architectural structures and places bearing a stratified history. Train stations are one of the most typical examples, as time always leaves traces of a city’s specific “cultural signs” and its process of “globalization” on its train station. Heterotopia Sketch is composed with three media: musical instruments, visual images and pre-recorded sounds. The music begins with the western modern notes, with an ancient, rural, dialect melody gradually surfacing from layers of notes. Slices of image in the front and the soundscape in the backdrop are concrete gestures which signify the invisible passing of time and history, accompanied by the distorted, unidentifiable utterances as an abstract revelation of the omnipresence of human beings and their dominant role in the making of history. Throughout the entire piece, the instruments, images and pre-recorded sounds rely heavily on the techniques of paralleling and layering, covering and uncovering, revealing the composer’s attempt to give a sketch of the nature of time and space through the art of music.
